Bubba Watson is playing some of the best golf of his career, so it should come as no surprise to see the odds moving down in favor of the two-time Masters winner adding a third green jacket to his collection. Watson has regained his form that he struggled maintaining in recent years – even going as far as to rock a pink Volvik ball. He’s since dropped Volvik and has started finding himself in a familiar spot – in contention.
Watson won early in the 2016 season at the Northern Trust Open, but struggled into 2017 missing 3 of 4 major cuts. While he did manage five top-10 finishes – certainly respectable for a PGA pro – however, it all seems a bit empty when you’re a two time Masters winner.
Watson has responded with two early wins in 2018, most recently at the WGC Match Play in Austin. Watson beat the shit out of Kevin Kisner in the finals, winning 7 & 6. The win in Austin comes on the back of a win in LA at Riviera and it’s no surprise Watson is now being talked about as a Masters favorite. A course he’s won at twice, it set itself up as a lefty’s course – with a high demand on right to left tee shots. Watson is as creative of a shotmaker on the tour and rarely hits the ball anywhere close to straight. Watson is hot at the right time and looks poised to add another green jacket to the collection.
