Could someone figure out how we can get Brad Stevens some MVP votes? I mean holy shit this guy is a wizard.
For those that missed it the Celtics somehow were able to withstand the Thunder without both Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown on a last second three pointer by Marcus Morris. It likely wasn’t the shot Stevens drew up as Morris had to pump fake and take a very contested shot, it still remains crazy how Stevens is constantly able to draw up plays with the game on the line to give his team a shot at winning.
We saw it in previous years with the Celtics consistently overachieving and Stevens squeezing out every ounce of talent out of his roster and the 2017-2018 season is no different. Finally armed with a top tier superstar the Celtics were quickly able to overcome the devastating Gordon Hayward injury and get their season on track. Stevens has reinforced the idea that a great NBA coach can make all the difference. Without a roster full of superstars, Stevens is consistently able to put players into positions that they’re able to make an impact. I mean he had Isaiah Thomas in the MVP conversation a year ago, which really speaks to Stevens impact. As a diehard Celtics fan I’d argue that Stevens is their true MVP.
